Salli Richardson-Whitfield Professional Biography

The incredibly talented and beautiful Salli Richardson-Whitfield is one of the most sought after leading ladies in Hollywood.  Salli can next be seen starring in a lead role in three upcoming feature films, Pastor Brown, I Will Follow, and We The Party.  In addition, Salli can currently be seen as one of the stars of the hit show on the SyFy channel, Eureka.  On the show Salli plays the lead role of "Alison," the head of Global Dynamics Department. The show's next season begins in 2011.  Eureka is produced and distributed by NBC Universal Television Studio and also stars Colin Ferguson and Joe Morton.

Salli starred opposite Will Smith in Warner Brothers $150 million dollar blockbuster I Am Legend.  In the movie, Salli played the lead role of "Ginny," Will's supportive wife who has to cope with the devastation and despair of her husband's decisions of fighting off a deadly man-made virus that is unstoppable, incurable.  The fI1m was directed by Francis Lawrence and is based on the best selling book by Richard Matheson. The script was written by Academy Award winner Akiva Goldsman (A Beautiful Mind).  She's also starred in Antwone Fisher with Denzel Washington, Low Down Dirty Shame with Keenen Ivory Wayans, and Posse with Mario Van Peebles.

 Born in Hyde Park, Chicago, Salli knew at an early age that she wanted to act.  She remembers her mother taking her to her frrst audition at the age of 14.  It was a play by the daughter of world renowned poet, Gwendolyn Brooks, called, The Tiger Wore White Gloves.  Salli blew them away in the audition with her singing and acting skills and was offered one of the lead roles.  She remembers just loving the rehearsals and the thrill of acting in front of an audience!  She knew from that moment on that she had found her calling.

After graduating high school Salli worked in a restaurant in hopes of saving enough money to buy a car and drive to LA to accomplish her dream of becoming an actress.  It didn't take long for her to save the $700 it took to buy a used car and set sail for Hollywood.  Salli quickly got working popping up as a featured player here and there in movies and guest-starring parts on a few select TV shows, but her big break came when she was cast in a strong supporting role in the feature film Posse, opposite Billy Zane and Blaire Underwood.  Since her first feature film, Salli's career has been on a steady journey and she has appeared in several motion pictures and television projects. Her motion picture credits include a strong supporting role opposite Denzel Washington and Derek Luke in Antwone Fisher, which won an Image Award and an Independent Spirit Award in 2003.  She has also had starring roles in DreamWorks' Biker Boys opposite Laurence Fishburn and the sequel to the Sony Picture's unexpected blockbuster hit, Anacondas: The Hunt for Blood Orchid, to name a few. 

Salli's TV credits include a lead role on the hit series for CBS, Family Law, which ran for three seasons where she starred opposite Tony Danza and Dixie Carter.  In addition, she has had a multi-recurring arc on the CBS hit drama CSI: Miami and has guest-starred on such shows as Lifetimes' Missing, Fox's House M.D., and Bones to name a few.

When Salli isn't working, her hobbies include golfing, riding motorcycles, playing sports, cooking and being a mom.  Salli currently resides in Los Angeles, California.
